Hello everyone! I'm a masters support and tank player. This is my tier list of the champions you can play as in this game. Please keep in mind that this is just my opinion and that you're welcome, even encouraged, to disagree with it and give me feedback on parts of it I can change or make better.
For now, I will only be writing analyses on the champions who I consider belong in SS tier. The analyses for the champions in the other tiers will be filled in as time goes on.
ss
These champions are among the best the game has to offer. Each has the ability to give you a potent edge over your opponents.
Makoa (koa)
- This champion has been in S tier or above ever seen the game decided to switch over to the FPS it is now, and for good reason. Displacement is a very powerful tool in any FPS; the ability to take an opponent who was once safe in the hands of their team and put them in a situation where they're basically guaranteed to die will be valued no matter the circumstance. Makoa's dredge anchor does exactly this so if you're good and smart with it, you have a high chance of scoring your team a kill every 11 seconds.
- Furthermore, Leviathan (or Levi as I like to call it) makes Makoa absurdly bulky and suddenly turns him into one of the highest health characters in the game. This is why its his best talent/legendary in almost every circumstance.
- Shell shield and shell spin are also pretty good, although they're not anything to write home about.
- Oh, and lets not forget about his ult. Pressing E when Ancient Rage is 100% charged fully heals Makoa and gives him a boost of 5000 health, basically providing to him a second life. He also starts using his anchor as a weapon; swinging and hitting someone with it will do 650 dmg. When Makoa is in ancient rage mode, anyone who might be opposing him is forced to flee as no champion is currently able to win a 1v1 against a 10100 health, cc immune (provided you're going Levi) monster. Its great for contesting the point, forcing overtime, winning duels... you get the idea.
Torvald (torv)
- is one of those characters who's almost instantly banned in every ranked game. His bubble is immensely powerful as it has the ability to not just save an ally from death (like, if they get hooked or something), but to also give your dmg and flank champions an edge over your opponents' when they go and do their thing (this is especially true if you like to run Field Study or Thanks Grandpa). Tanks and healers can also benefit from the larger health-pool and the increase in survivability... its just so good man.
- Field Study is Torv's best talent and is picked more often than Thanks Grandpa just because that dmg boost is so valuable. For example, when Evie's shielded she suddenly gains the ability to two-shot Strix, Cassie, Lian, Mal'Damba, etc.
- Recharge also allows Torv to keep getting back the 1800 health he has in terms of his sheilds and Nullify makes him a discount Symmetra. Its good for finishing off kills on that Meave you just cant seem to get the final hit on for some reason.
- To be honest, I don't think Hyper Beam is that good. Sure, it can clear opponents off objectives and sometimes fling them off the map but it leaves you vulnerable and unable to activate your other abilities (the main one here being protection). People don't pick Torv because of his ult. They pick him because of his super powerful and potentially game-changing ability in protection.
Jenos
- What I'm not sure of is whether this guy belongs in SS tier or S+ tier. All is know is that hes really good for one main reason... and that reason is his talent, Luminary (this is not to say that other parts of his kit are bad). It gives allies affected by his astral mark an increase of 15 percent in weapon dmg. This boost, paired with the healing that the ability provides, means that your team's dmg dealers and flanks should be able to win every 1v1 thrown at them. This is great for obvious reasons.
- Void grip is, in my opinion, Jenos's second best ability. It really helps to shut down those pesky flanks or to stop enemies when they are trying to run away. Its almost like Makoa's dredge anchor in that it secures or sometimes even creates kill opportunities. However, its worse because unlike Koa's hook, it doesn't stop your opponent from using escape abilities to return to safety. Oh, and it can also be neutered by resilience.
- Stellar wind is, I would say, Jenos's worst ability because it doesn't really allow you to escape as well when compared to the abilities of other supports. Take Mal'Damba's for example. Slither makes him untargetable by any abilties including ultimates for the whole of its duration. Stellar Wind though? It just makes Jenos a bit faster.
- Through Time and Space is alright. If you aim it correctly, you can get a few kills but other than that it can be used to block off and control areas in a pinch. Its not amazing but its not horrible either.
