Free Agent - NA

Hey everyone! My name is PlayTech, I've been playing Paladins for about 4 years now. I've been playing competitively for about 2 of those years, and in my first year I was playing in the Paladins Minor League. Now since that and the Paladins Premier League have been dissolved and the Paladins Pro Circuit was formed, I was able to play in the PPC in Brazil. No, I'm not from Brazil, I'm actually from the USA, so I had to play with high ping but oh well :3 I've peaked at #1 Grandmaster in North America, and #2 in the world. I usually play ranked in NA, but i've also had multiple accounts in GM while playing in other regions such as Latin America, Brazil, and Europe. ANYWAY, my most played champion is Androxus (level 112 as of this guide), and since his primary fire got reverted to his old fire rate and damage, but with more range, Andro has been a pretty dominant champion to use in ranked so I'd like to share what I think is one of the best loadouts you can use for him!

As some of you may notice, I am not using Power of the abyss (hitting reversal resets your dashes) in this deck, and the main reason for that is because of a change that happened to this card a few patches ago. Basically, before the nerf, you were able to not only hit your reversal on an enemy to get your dashes back, you could also hit deployables and shields. Now however, you will only get the reset by hitting an enemy, meaning that if it hits anything else, you won't get any cooldown reduction for you dashes. Because of this, and just the meta in general, a new style of Androxus has been born, rewarding a patient and aggressive playstyle. So for this deck, I use watchful 5 because in ranked, every second counts, and having your cooldowns back as soon as possible definitely helps you to be able to escape, or trigger a snowball effect and just keep decimating your opponents. Having extra ammo is really good since andro's reload can take a while, and having extra bullets is always great. Marksman 2 or ammo on punch on 2 points I think is a very underrated card, because as a flank, you still need to be close to your enemy to deal your max potential damage sometimes, and we've all been in that awkward moment where we run out of ammo and just try to punch people to death. That doesn't usually end well, cuz sometimes they get healed. or just get out of your range and you're stuck in a reload as you get shot at and probably died. So with this card, every time you punch, you get 2 ammo back! this is the exact amount of time it takes to be able to punch again, so basically, you can punch, shoot twice, and by the time you shot those shots, you are able to punch again, basically meaning you won't have to reload for a while :) I only use extra distance on dash on 2 points because the card itself is already pretty nerfed, and 2 points is still enough to make the dash not feel completely useless. On longer maps like frozen guard, I could use a deck with this card on 4 points, but for the most part I feel 2 is fine. Last but not least, I'm using elusive on 3 points, as extra movement speed after dashing is SO good. Not only do you get extra mobility to run around the map, but the extra speed is also applied while you're in the air drifting, so it's really helpful to get you IN and OUT of fights! Also goes without saying that cursed revolver is the best andro talent as it allows you to deal more damage from afar while also removing all recoil from your weapon, and simply gives you extra damage as well!

Notes

Bomb King- BK has pretty big head so just click it! You also deal more damage and faster from afar, so play at a mid range distance from the BK and in the air to make it hard for them to hit you!
Drogoz- For the most part, you are basically his hard counter so take that lizard out of the sky!
Evie- While this is technically a skill matchup, it is slightly easier for an andro to hit more shots on the Evie, so use your mobility and hitscan pressure to kill her.
Barik- While you'll never pick andro because it "hard counters Barik", andro can actually really melt Barik since he has a big head so click it whenever you can!
Imani- Even though an Imani that is aware and ready for your flank can be annoying with her fire stance, you do have an easier time just bursting her down, so just be strategic and strike while she's distracted or low HP!
Koga- Without hard pockets, Koga shouldn't really be a problem for andro as you have more damage.
Maeve- This is also a skill matchup, so try to bait maeve cooldowns while trying to take as little damage as possible. Sometimes, this fight usually has two stages: first you fight her and assuming you get her to half HP, she'll use her remaining cooldowns to retreat. While she is trying to hide and regain her HP and CD's, you should then close in for the kill.
Makoa- BIGGEST HEAD IN THE GAME. FREE REAL ESTATE! On a side note though, try to just be aware of his hook range and staying out of it as makoa can mess you up as bad as you can him.
Moji- Click da head 4Head. Simply click this champion to delete it! Try not to click her when she barriers though, but overall, you outrange and out DPS this champ, so just kill her.
Pip- Has a VERY big head as well, just click it! Also try to stay in the air as it makes it harder for him to shoot you!
Skye- In a straight 1v1, and with good itemization, Skye shouldn't be a problem for you. A smart Skye will try to strike when you least expect it, so just always ask yourself where she could be or where you last saw/heard her to be aware of her presence.
Talus- This champion currently does not have enough damage or range to compete with andro. Just don't choke your shots and you should be fine.
Viktor- While Viktor can definitely burst down an Androxus from afar, as long as you can close the gap without taking damage, you should always win the 1v1 with Viktor.
Willo- Basically Drogoz but smaller. Just dash in the air and kill her.
Zhin- This is honestly a double edge sword. You don't hard counter Zhin, but he doesn't hard counter you either. It really just comes down to hitting your shots (hopefully headshots) and that will force out his counter. Just expect it and don't shoot it. While he's in his counter animation, just close the gap if you need to with a dash or just walk if he's close enough and him him with a headshot + punch combo as soon as his counter finishes and you'll see Zhin isn't all that scary :)
Khan- While Khan can definitely be annoying for an andro, as long as you approach the fight in the right moment, all you have to do is dash in the air and shoot over the Khan shield, and he shouldn't really be a problem most of the time.

Notes

Ash- Ash is flank bully. She does a lot of damage, has a big shield to dance around, and her ult can stun you and help her team kill you easily. Just avoid her and fight her once she doesn't have her CD's and is distracted.
Buck- While with cauterize 3 Buck can be a bit less of a problem, he is still just very tanky with his damage reduction cards, and worse if he goes bulk up with a Corvus pocket. SImply try to poke him from afar and once he's low and out of CD's, close the gap for the kill.
Cassie- Always a 50/50 with Cassie as she does very well against flanks. All I can say is try to attack her when she doesn't have her dodge roll and blast shot and you should be ok.
Lian- Hitbox the size of a toothpick, does 800 free damage, and moves very fast. She is a demon, but if your aim is on point, and you attack her while she doesn't have her cooldowns, she becomes a lot more manage-able.
Lex- Sort of a skill matchup, however if he has you revealed, it can sometimes be very hard to duel a good Lex. Try to either stay away from him until you can poke him enough to be able to chase and kill him, or just straight up challenge him if you're confident with you aim.
Furia- Probably the most annoying support to play against as andro. She does a LOT of hitscan damage, and can hold her own against flanks. Just poke from afar, and chase once she doesn't have her dash.
Tyra- A good damage reduction triple nade Tyra is a nightmare to flank. With this champion, try to count her nades, and attack once she has used them all.
Tiberius- When this champion has his heavy blade and his combat trance, he is the literal definition of cancer. Try to wait until he has used this abilities first before engaging.
Zhin- If you aren't hitting many shots or are not constantly aware of a zhin, he can make your day miserable. If you can't deal with him solo, there's no shame in asking your team for a little help to kill him.
Sha Lin- Sha is one of the best anti-flank champions as he deals a lot of burst damage while applying a cripple and having an invisibility escape. Against Sha, you might have to wait for late game, and simply invest in buying cauterize, haven, resilience, and illuminate. This will help you greatly in dealing with the Sha.
