Free Agent - NA
Lex is a low floor champion, but a high ceiling. He's great for new players or someone to main, but not good for an average player to just pick up simply because there are better options for that. The problem with Lex is that the enemy team needs to feed hard on him. He gets items and credits faster than most champions, but he has no burst abilities besides Pursuit which doesn't work against groups that well. Pursuit is best with discovery because that's Lex's burst talent. However, Lex has great roaming potential and can intercept a 2 v1 with Death Hastens for an easy win. He is also good at going around the point taking out the healers and running back. His two drawbacks are his screen shake when he fires fast and the Discovery slot machines (just call it slots, but not the passive because it's different) randomness.
The first you get is Discovery which is your starting talent and good at low-skilled environments.
Discovery
Retribution
Increase the damage you deal to your Retribution target by 25%.
Level 1
Bursting with potential (get it?), but relies on slots and the ability to aim as well with the smoothie aim.
Heroism
Combat Slide
Gain Immunity to Crowd Control and reduce your damage taken by 90% while using Combat Slide.
Level 1
This is so bad. The reason why is because you usually HAVE to run this with a slide reset build, but getting shot during sliding isn't the problem, it's after. Lex's slide lasts too short even with the max distance. People can compare this to Mokoa and it would good on him so why not Lex, but Mokoa has a large hitbox to tank damage for your team. Lex just slides around and not killing anyone or helping the team. Overall, it can be used, but stay clear of this talent in Ranked.
Death Hastens
Weapon
Your weapon shots deal 680 damage every 0.7s, but your Ammo count is reduced.
Level 1
If this was his normal gun instead of his present smoothie shaker, Lex would be so much better. Death hastens is like Andro's Cursed Revolver, but if Andro's original gun was bad. This is like Cassie, but instant travel. 680 times 3 equals 2040 which is big damage. Plus, heads shots are a whopping 1100 damage at an effective range. It also helps to poke.
These builds are good, but you can tweak them.

Just burn the enemy to the ground. Pursuit counts as a weapon shot so free money. Literally. Discovery with Ammo Spam (Tweak the Death Hastens build) is toxic.
Lex doesn't have a strong match-up as he wrecks equally. I would say, in a forced 1 v1 situation, Lex would struggle against these if equally skilled and being able to slide.
I mean, he doesn't counter anything really, but has no glaring weakness besides crowd control or the lack of in his kit. Or any burst.
