Free Agent - NA

Strix is a champion armed with a talon rifle and a controversial talent; namely, unauthorized use. Firstly, here are Strix abilities.

Abilities:

Left Click/L2: A bolt action rifle that fires one 1200 damage shot every 1 second with an ammo count of 5.

Side Arm: A semi-automatic pistol that deals 220 damage per shot with an ammo count of 10. Rifle has no damage fall off. Pistol damage fall off is heavy. Rifle head shot deals one 1800 damage shot.

Right Click/R2: Scope: Look down your scope.
Flare: Fire a flare that reveals enemies. You can fire your flare on an enemy dealing damage for a period of time. Opponents can step on the flare to remove the effect; however, taking damage in return.

F/R1: Stealth: This is your stealth ability. Use this to stay hidden from your enemies. You can stay in stealth until your energy depletes. Energy regenerates shortly.

Q/L1: Quick Switch: This switches between your weapons. To fire a flare you must have your pistol equipped.

E/Triangle: Flash Bang: Your ultimate ability. Use this to blind enemies on contact for 3 seconds.

Tips & Tricks:

1.) Pressure the enemy. You are a SNIPER. You must keep your distance, but remain in range and line of sight of your teammates. Pressure the enemy by doing damage as much as possible. For instance, avoid targeting Barik's shield instead of Ying in your line of sight. Choose your shots more precisely.

2.) Don't let your guard down. Be aware of the flank your are facing. If the opposing team has Maeve, listen for her prowl. If the opposing team has Buck, you must constantly check your surroundings. With this in mind, play differently against each flank. Flanks will try to predict where you will be positioning yourself.

3.) Flash bang in 1 on 1 situations. Such as, defending against a flank can be difficult. Particularly, if it becomes of that, save your flash bang for a 1 on 1 situation. Considering, It will turn a fight into your favor.

4.) Aim for the head. Dealing one 1800 damage shot can make a difference. Characters such as, Moji, Talus, Willo, and Androxus have bigger heads allowing for an easier chance of hitting them in the head.

Notes

To begin with, Strix itemization focuses on increasing your survivability and finishing your opponent swiftly. Here, both play-styles institute great effectiveness of the team. Ordinarily, your first item should be Cauterize, which is the most beneficial choice for your team early game.

In addition, do NOT purchase the item Deft Hands, too many players purchase Deft Hands -- oblivious to the prominent mistake they have made for there team.

Furthermore, depending on the opposite team's composition; for instance, if the opposing team has 2 shields (Ex. Fernando, Ruckus), your next item should be Wrecker; in particular, if the opponent team has stealth (Ex. Skye, Sha Lin), you should purchase the item Illuminate.

Card Selection
Notes

Both of these builds are fun and effective to use, and it comes down to what you prefer.

If you become accurate with Strix, and position yourself correctly, you become a great asset to your team and a nuisance for the enemy team.

The difference between these builds: Nocturnal build focuses on utilizing your stealth for survivability and surprising the enemy.

The Crackshot build; to put it briefly, focuses on dealing with heavy counters such as, Evie, Maeve, or Buck. Dealing 20% extra damage switching to your pistol can most certainly help you win a close quarter fight.

For the Nocturnal Build, this build focuses on applying pressure to your enemy and/or playing aggressive. First, the card Relentless; reduces your movement speed while aiming down your scope by 60%. Indeed, allowing yourself to be less of a target down the field. Moreover, the card Escape Plan; rather, entering stealth below 65% health heals you for 500 health. Provided that, Escape Plan is a significant card to have, especially with the talent, Nocturnal. Even more, the card Guerrilla Tactics; guarantees 30 stealth resource for getting an elimination; more importantly, increasing your survivability.

For the Crackshot Build, this build is similar to the Nocturnal Build; however, the cards are more focused on your pistol than stealth. Switching to your pistol is much quicker with the card Dexterous — reducing the time to swap to your pistol by 40%. Including, the Tactical Retreat card — gaining 50% movement for 2s when entering stealth; subsequently, improving your survivability greatly. Nonetheless, this build is essentially useful for dealing with Buck, Evie, and Maeve.

Notes

Maeve: Small target, quick, and overall gifted with a kit deadly for Strix. Furthermore, a difficult flank to deal with, and if you survive an encounter with her, she most likely managed to escape. Alternatively, get your team to assist you before she flanks you. As well, attempt to position yourself for an advantage. For instance, hitting her before she hits you; as a result, leaves a good chance for you finish her off. Lastly, I strongly suggest picking the talent Crackshot for this match up.

Evie: Small target, quick, and also deadly for Strix. Similarly, Evie can attack you and manage to retreat. To defeat her, you must predict where Evie may blink in for an angle. Also, the only way Evie can effectively pressure and flank you is to up close. Finding a good position for Strix is the best way to deal with Evie. Nocturnal or Crackshot are both good choices against Evie.

Skye: Skye can make you taste your own medicine. To prevent that, you will need to buy the Item illuminate. Once you have Illuminate, the Skye will most likely choose a different target. If not, be cautious or wait for her to appear. I strongly suggest Crackshot for this match up.

Buck: To defeat Buck, you have to get the first shot. If you manage to get the first shot off, he will most likely retreat and heal. Since Bucks head is rather big, especially up close, aim for the head with your rifle and pistol. I strongly suggest Crackshot for this match up.
